A Great Day in BA...

Why was today so great? Well, I got up around 7:00am and went to the gym, where I ran 20 minutes on a treadmil and without an iPod. You may be thinking, so what, that's not a big deal. Oh, but it is! 1. I really do not like running on treadmils. I get bored really easily. 2. I do not run on treadmils without music. I was pretty proud of myself for lasting so long.

After that we had group prayer. We used this time to focus our hearts on Jesus and to pray for each campus and each other specifically. It was such a great way to lead into our extended time with the Lord. Every Tuesday we have about 2ish hours to spend reading our Bible, praying, journaling, worship, and just resting in the presence of the Lord.

We headed to campus this afternoon about 3. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to our bus stop and then we make the 45 minute trek to campus. Today the bus was super packed so my team got to know each other even better.

Once we got to campus we met Cari, a STINTer, and spent some time catching up with her and praying for each other and the campus. Then we parted ways to go meet students. I went on campus with Jessie (a senior at USC-Upstate) and we specifically prayed for the Lord to place students who speak really good English in our path. He is so faithful! Even though it took us a few minutes to find students who were willing to do Soularium (the image survey), we eventually met Agustina. She was very open and honest with us, which was awesome. We got to share the gospel with her, and she said that Christ was not in her life, but she wanted Him to be in her life, but that she'd didn't want to pray right then and that she'd do it later. Pray that she does trust Christ and that we will be able to meet with her later this week. :)

After walking around and asking students if they speak english, we met Meliza. She was also open and very interested in talking with us about her spiritual journey. She told us she believed in God. After the survey she asked us, "I have one question. Why are we here?" Meaning she doesn't really know her purpose as to why she exists. We got to share with her our personal testimonies about how God has changed our life and that we now know our purpose in life. We ended up sharing the gospel with her and she was tracking with us the whole time, asking questions and answering our questions. She told us that Christ is in her life, but not in control of her life. I wasn't really convinced that she was a Christian, so I asked her if she could tell me about when she made the decision to trust Christ and how her life had changed. And she did just that.

We ended up talking to Meliza for about 2 hours. Her class was canceled so she came back over to talk to us and we continued talking about God. She wanted to know how we have a relationship with Him, how we get closer to Him. I told her that one way I get to know God is by reading the Bible and praying. I told her a great place to start is the Gospel of John. So, tomorrow, we are getting together at 6 to discuss the first chapter of John. Pray that Meliza will remember to meet with us and that our conversation will help her know God better.

After a pretty great day on campus, a group of us walked down the street to the vegetarian restaurant (the one that I'm kind of obssessed with now and eat my weight in broccoli). It wasn't the broccoli this time that made it so delicious, but the boiled peanuts! That's right, boiled (or if you are like me and pronounce it "bowl") peanuts. They were already shelled and tasted like good ol' South Carolina boiled peanuts, but with less salt. It made my night. :)

My campus group was invited to one of the Argentine student leaders apartment to grill out (it's called an asado) and learn salsa dancing. Pretty stoked about that!

Thanks for praying for us!
Chau,
