The Chi Omega Book Club has officially begun!! I have been praying about this since I first stepped onto the College of Charleston's campus a year and a half ago. God is faithful. As you know, for two weeks prior we did a movie discussion at the Chi Omega house to begin building friendships with these sorority girls. At the last one I introduced the idea of having a "Book Club" using Marian Jordan's book Sex and the City Uncovered. The girls looked through the book and were really excited about having a book club.
One of the girls, Kaitlin, was really excited about it. Kaitlin is a senior and was the Chi Omega President last year. I had contacted her last year about Greek Impact and she was not open to the idea AT ALL. She didn't really even want me to come to their chapter meeting to do a Greek Spiritual Interest Survey, but she let me have 5 minutes anyways.
Christine was so surprised, as was I, that Kaitlin even came to the movie discussions we had. We were even more surprised when SHE wanted to announce at their chapter meeting about the book club!! She and Christine have started to develop an actual friendship as a result.
I mentioned to the girls on Tuesday that the author Marian Jordan was a Chi Omega and they went crazy! There were even two girls at the house who asked us about the book and once they found out the author is one of their sisters they want to read the book now! The girls are excited to tell their chapter about this book!
Speaking of Marian Jordan, I heard her speak last night at Winthrop University. She travels all over the country to speak to college women about her life and how everything changed when she met Jesus. I went to Winthrop to check her out and see about having her come to Charleston. The event was amazing! As a result of her coming and sharing her personal testimony of how the God of the universe rescued her, 28 girls indicated they surrendered their lives to Christ!!!! Praise the LORD!
After the event, I had a chance to meet Marian and tell her about the Chi Omega Book Club that just started. She said she'd LOVE to come to Charleston! Here is a picture with me and the lovely MJ! (Thanks Heyward!)

A part from what God is doing in the lives of women in the Greek system, God is also working elsewhere on campus. If you've read my prayer letter from this month, you know that Sam is our new sister in Christ! Madison (the freshman that went out sharing with me that day) and I met with her this week to talk to her about forgiveness (the previous week we talked about her decision to follow Jesus and how she now can be assured of spending eternity in Heave). When I told her the good news about our sins, past, present, and future have been 100% forgiven through Christ's death on the cross, she could NOT believe it!!!! This was SO liberating for Sam. It's been so incredible to see her life changing because of Jesus. One thing that Sam asked Madison and I to pray for is for her to find friends who love Jesus. A lot of her friends are major drinkers and smokers and she doesn't want to be around them, but they are all she knows. Pray she will be able to find friends to encourage her in her walk with God.
From my last post, I told you about two girls I met at the hall program a few weeks ago. I met with Annie, one of the girls I met. I had shared my testimony with her that night at the event. We went to Starbucks to hang out and get to know each other. Pray that after Spring Break I will be able to reconnect with her and share the gospel with her. She's very open to talking about spiritual things.
I love seeing God at work. It motivates me like nothing else.
