Smells & Bells & A Taste of Home...

This morning we went to a Catholic mass at the church we saw yesterday on our Amazing Race adventure. I've never been to a mass but the structure was very similar to the Episcopal church I grew up in. Meaning, I could kind of tell what was going on and understood some of the symbolism. They had incense burning and some bells rang. High church? Yes. But it was neat to get a taste of the Argentine culture and to help us understand where some students are coming from if they say they are Catholic.

Since it was ALL in spanish and, let's be honest, I don't know spanish, I took this opportunity to read my Bible, in English. Was that rude? I don't really know, but I enjoyed it. The music was beautiful and I recognized some of the tunes.

I had a little taste of the SC Lowcountry after church today. We walked to an open air market on a cobblestone street! This market was very similar to the one downtown where venders set up shop. However, it was much much longer than Market Street. I was standing at the top of a hill and looked out and saw a sea of people that went for what looked like miles. Needless to say, you probably can't cover the entire market in one day. I'll be going back to get some awesome souveniers. No worries.

This week is going to be a normal week for us. It will be nice to have some sort of routine. Pray that the Lord uses us this week as we head to campus to share our faith.

Helping Argentines become worshippers of Christ,
