Good News, Good Deeds

What do you do with 17 Americans on a university campus in another country when there are no classes and  very few students...

TRASH PICK UP!

Ever since Spring Break trips in March, the administration hasn't been too keen on having Americans on campus talking with their students. Picking up trash today helped us show them that we (and the university students) care about the campus and the students. We got permission from administration and invited students (those in Vida, random students, and students that the Summer Project had met thus far) to join us. We filled 40 trash bags to the brim!

The purpose of the service project was really two fold:
1. We wanted to serve the campus in some way and build a good rapport  with the administration and
2. Connect students to Vida Estudiantil and get to know them as we work together to pick up trash in hopes of building relationships and sharing the gospel.

Star and Joe got serious and found trash under the bleachers. Judging from Star's face, it wasn't too pleasant.

Workin' hard

Part of my team rockin' our new VERD tshirts!

Overall, it was pretty successful. And the campus looks great (minus the dead furry animal I came across! Eww!!!)
