I love that the weather is getting warmer! It's funny to me how once the sun starts shining and it warms up a bit EVERYONE comes out of their winter hiding! The streets and parks in downtown Charleston are FILLED with people strolling the streets with their dogs, basking in the sun at Marion Square and just enjoying being outside.
Once it starts getting warmer the first place I want to go (other than the beach) is Freshberry!!! For those of you who haven't ventured to this adorable little frozen yogurt shop on George Street downtown, YOU MUST! They make the BEST frozen yogurt and have a smorgasbord of toppings from fresh fruit to Fruity Pebbles! AHH! I love it! I also LOVE meeting with students here.
I met Annie a few weeks ago at a residence hall program that I did for one of our student leaders involved in Crusade. Annie and her roommate Maddie missed the entire program and just showed up when were hanging out afterward. I introduced myself to them and filled them in on what we talked about to strike up conversation with them. They didn't really understand what my "job" is or why I would want to hang out with college students so God gave me the opportunity to share my story of what He has done in my life. Unfortunately, neither of the girls seemed really interested in talking about spiritual things. Maddie actually left soon after, and it was just me and Annie.
I wanted to continue getting to know Annie, so I invited her to have coffee with me. We met at Starbucks and had a great time just getting to know each other. After that day, we parted ways, but I didn't get the chance to share the gospel with her.
I knew I wanted her to have an opportunity to hear the gospel so I called her and asked if she wanted to meet at Freshberry. Of course, she wanted to because Freshberry is awesome!
This time around it was much easier to talk to her, she was a lot more open and willing to share about her where she is on her spiritual journey. She doesn't believe in Hell, but that everyone goes to Heaven when they die (except for the really bad people, they go to Hell...which totally contradicts her not believing in Hell). So, I shared the gospel with her.
I wish I could say that right there she asked Christ into her life, but she didn't. She still has a lot of questions and doubts. She said she wasn't sure if she was ready to make such a huge commitment. Which I told her was fine. At least now she has heard the gospel and knows that God wants to have a personal relationship with her through Jesus.
I told Annie about a website Everystudent.com that may help answer some of the questions she has. We are planning on getting together before the end of the semester to talk again. She was very thankful for me sharing the gospel with her.
Please pray for Annie, that she would be ready to invite Christ into her life soon!
