The Low Down (since it's been so long!)

This season of life has been incredibly busy which is why I haven't blogged in a few months. Sorry! I want to take this opportunity to update you on what's been happening in my life lately.

1. I'm training for a half marathon! I know, I'm crazy. I've actually enjoyed training for it though, surprisingly. I was never a runner and never really planned on being one. Running wasn't something that I enjoyed...at all! But now, I love it! Running has been my way of therapy really. It gets me out of the house to spend some quality time with the Lord. Just me, the Lord, and the pavement. I actually look forward to my long run days because I know that means more time with my Love. It's really the best way for me to listen to the Lord, because usually I'm doing all the talking. I can't run and talk at the same time (not coordinated enough, I'd probably trip or something). The actual date for the 13.1 mile run is October 30 in Greenville. Don't know if you've ever been to Greenville, SC, but it's quite a hilly place compared to the lowcountry. I'm ready, bring it on!

2. I'm still currently raising my financial support to return to campus as a fully funded laborer for the Lord. I have been surprised with how much I'm enjoying this time. Most people view Ministry Partner Development (MPD) as a huge, unattainable task that must be done in order to do ministry and put it frankly, really stinks. I view it as an opportunity to invite others to be a part of reaching students on college campuses and the world with the gospel. I love it really. Every time I have an appointment with someone, the Lord confirms that I am in the center of His will. That He has called me to be a missionary with Campus Crusade. After appointments, I get in my car and my heart could explode with excitement! (This is pretty much after every appointment) All I want to do after sharing about all the Lord has done and how He has called me to full time ministry, is share the gospel. I'm often tempted to drive downtown and find some college students! I am consistently reminded that God's timing is perfect and He never shows up late. He knows the exact day I'll be back on campus. What a glorious day that will be!

3. God is moving in incredible ways! 15 students accepted Christ at Fall Getaway a few weeks ago! WOW! There were over 300 students in attendance too (pretty sure that was a record!). 9 students accepted Christ at Charleston Southern just last week through an outreach called "Operation TP". Students who live on campus have to provide their own toilet paper and so our students thought it be a great idea to give every student a roll and an opportunity to hear the gospel. As students went around handing out toilet paper and doing survey's the Lord was at work and opening hearts. I can't wait to see what He does the rest of the semester!

This picture is of all the staff and students that attended Fall Getaway 2010!!

Thank you so much for your consistent prayers and support! You really have no idea what an impact you are making for the Kingdom!

For His glory,
Shannon
